“2004 will undeniably be the year that As I Lay Dying will dominate the scene by touring through the end of the year and working on material for a new album. You have been warned.”
As I Lay Dying not only have the gumption to tour relentlessly for eighteen months, they also have the sheer talent and ruthless energy to make every one of those live performances must-see events.
The band has been on the road since June 2003, a month before the release of their debut Metal Blade album, “Frail Words Collapse”. It’s little wonder that they have won the accolade of “road warriors” with fans and fellow bands.
As I Lay Dying make music that is undoubtedly hardcore, but it is also skilfully and emotionally driven, which separates them from many of their peers. Their melodies are sharp and resonant while their message is unyielding and brutal; their unique crossover style reaches out to metal and hardcore audiences alike.
And the band has been making tsunamis in the States too - the promo for “94 Hours” was in constant rotation on both MTV2’s Headbangers Ball and FUSE’s Uranium.
As I Lay Dying have a reputation for being one of the most energetic and accomplished bands on the road, and their list of tour-mates – which includes Chimaira, Soilwork, Sworn Enemy, Haste, Bleeding Through, Six Feet Under and The Black Dahlia Murder – is testament to their live capacity.
Their forthcoming dates finish off a memorable and successful year for the band. And as far as New Year’s resolutions go, they do not intend to rest on their laurels. A new album is in the pipeline and as for touring… well, it certainly won’t be long before the adrenalin pumped up by a live performance is coursing through their veins again.
As I Lay Dying will keep pushing their live shows to the absolute limit – and you’ll love watching them do it.
