NEW EP‘LANDER/GREY CELLS’ OUT NOW

“The best bands often defy genres. Thedealwasforthediamond is definitely one of them…” - Decoy Music

“Some kind of math rock/post-rock hybrid of pure, unadulterated bliss…” – The Silent Ballet

“…they bridge the post/prog rock divide with ease, in fact finding a very pleasant niche all of their own…” - God Is In The TV

After a busy and exciting 2009, releasing their debut EP and playing shows with the likes of Cult Of Luna, Devil Sold His Soul, Latitudes, We Made God, Upcdownc, Tesseract and Lithurgy, Thedealwasforthediamond have recently put the finishing touches on a new double A-side; two songs that will feature, re-worked, by producer Mark Roberts (John Beeson), on the debut full-length album to be released in August.

Awash with subtle yet powerful atmospheric layers and expansive soundscapes tracks ‘Lander’ and ‘Grey Cells’ sees the Brighton based four-piece fuse full-bore beguiling post-rock with melodic metal, proving that the praise which was heaped upon their 2008 ‘It’s Not Enough To Reproduce EP’ was entirely justified.

BIOGRAPHY: thedealwasforthediamond.

thedealwasforthediamond is a Brighton based instrumental group known for its epic, progressively heavy and intricate arrangements heard over the course of an EP – It’s Not Enough To Reproduce (2008) and their three track EP Lander/Grey Cells (2010) both self-released and the forthcoming full-length album (2010). thedealforthediamond consists of current and former members of Kill Kenada, Mike Lord (Stars and Sons).

In August 2010, the band returns to the studio with producer Mark Roberts (John Beeson) to record their first full-length album currently untitled. The resulting nine-song disc will find the band's sound progressing ever forward in its balance of weighty, melodic driven metal and discordant textures with confirmed working song titles on the album ‘Lander,’ ‘Grey Cells’ and ‘For My Sins.’

thedealwasforthediamond was formed in 2006 by guitarist Dory Scott, guitarist Adam Cawdery, drummer CJ Evans and bassist Alistair Scott. CJ Evans relocated in 2008, leaving the band to join new outfit The Crave. Drummer James Eldridge (ex-Kill Kenada) joined shortly thereafter in the autumn of 2008 after seeing the band live during CJ’s last gig and successfully auditioning for the role. The band then began work on their new EP release.

thedealwasforthediamond’s second release, the three track EP Lander/Grey Cells, was recorded at Empora Studios, again working with producer Mark Roberts. The EP received praise from the likes of Rock Sound Magazine, featuring in their 2010 ‘Ones To Watch’ feature alongside Staff Writer Faye Lewis’ Decks Of Death as well as further press attention in Decoy Music, Organ Art, Rock Pulse and Rock Midgets. The band have since played a number of gigs around the Brighton and London area alongside Cult Of Luna, Devil Sold His Soul, Latitudes, We Made God, Upcdownc, Tesseract and Lithurgy, with plans to tour even more extensively throughout 2010-2011.

In order to help raise funds to pay for the self-funded material, the band have worked in several full and part time jobs each. Free from self-indulgent philosophies the band simply makes post-rock music intended to make people think.

The band’s second EP is out now.
