Escape Act - Balance New Album Released June 14th 2010

Belfast alt-pop four-piece Escape Act release their new album ‘Balance’ on June 14th 2010 - the follow-up to the highly acclaimed ‘Loosely Based On Fiction’.

Rocksound - ‘genuine, genuinely affecting stuff’ 8 out of 10
Hot Press - “Loosely Based On Fiction is indie rock in excelsis.” 4 out of 5.
AU - “a 24-carat treasure trove of indie-pop gold” 8 out of 10.

Not content to rest after their successful debut effort, Escape Act returned almost immediately to Glasgow and producer Andy Miller to begin recording the giant step forward that is Balance. Those familiar with Escape Act will be pleased to find a wealth of alternative pop gems but with a significant twist. ‘Balance’ presents us with a new confidence in creative expression, a rich texture of piano, string and brass arrangements and the shear depth and beauty wrought out of 14 sessions, over 200 hours recording time, and a full complement of supporting musicians.

Determined to build on the experience of the first album, Escape Act’s lead singer and musical lynch-pin Chris Heaney set himself high expectations for the follow-up. “There was no argument about going back to Glasgow, just about how far we could push ourselves.”

The result: Balance delivers on all fronts. Straight-ahead melodic pop tunes in the form of Salt In Your Eye, Tired of Being Pushed Around and Pressure jostle with the soaring, anthemic joy of Gas and Single Thought. More thoughtful moments on ‘K’ and ‘Flat Ocean’ allude to a new depth that is only just being explored by the enigmatic four-piece.

Balance is released on Volte-face Records and will be available on Digipak CD and Digital stores. A special limited edition album package comprising additional artwork and collectibles will be available to pre-order from escapeact.com in May.
