BOYS NIGHT OUT - UK TOUR, MARCH 2006

“For everyone in the UK that's been hounding us to get over there and tour... we finally are, and very soon.”
Boys Night Out, March 2006

Ontario-based Boys Night Out began fusing a blistering blend of emo, hardcore, pop and punk in 2003 when they made their debut album with Ferret Music, Make Yourself Sick.

Sophomore album Trainwreck was a creative leap for the band, marking a distinct change in their sound and direction. The album has a bigger, richer more powerful vibe; influences are diverse, themes and lyrics are darker with deeper layers and complex atmospheres. The addition of Kara Dupuy to the line-up has fuelled the surge in the band’s sound fantastically.

The band has challenged itself to grow and to make a statement about the type of music they are going to be making for years to come.

Reflecting on the change the band has undergone, vocalist Connor Lovat-Fraser comments: “We’ve all been in punk bands for years and years, and a record like Make Yourself Sick, while it was fun as hell to write, was also easy as hell to write. With [Trainwreck] we wanted to challenge ourselves to make something that had more substance, that incorporated more of the influences that we actually listen to, instead of the area we had been put into.”

In the wake of the album’s success, the band has been nominated for the “Best New Group of the Year” title at the forthcoming Juno Awards in Canada, which will be hosted by Pamela Anderson on April 2nd.

And hot off the heels of this month’s triumphant scoop at the Canadian Indy Awards, where the band bagged the gong for “Best Rock Act of the Year”, Boys Night Out are finally headed to the UK for a tour that kicks off on March 31st in Newcastle with the legendary Less Than Jake.

This is huge news for the ever-increasing army of BNO fans on this side of the Atlantic and the dates are, unsurprisingly, selling out fast.
