On August 22nd THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER release their greatly anticipated album Miasma in the UK.

This punishing second album, subtly described by the death metal band as “intense” (the understatement of the century!), has already entered the top 200 Billboard chart, selling just under 10,000 copies in its first week of release Stateside. The album also reached pole position in Billboard’s Heat Seekers chart, no5 on the Billboard Independent chart and the no14 on Billboard’s Top Hard Music chart.

Their debut Metal Blade album, Unhallowed, revealed an unyielding, dark and confrontational mix of uncompromising breaks and gut-wrenching beats. With the new record, the Detroit-based band has taken an original fusion of Swedish-influenced metal and Florida death metal to unimagined levels. Vocalist Trevor Strnad adds: “I would almost say [the new album is] less accessible than Unhallowed.”

The new material, however, is already being devoured by established fans, and its drawing even more Black Dahlia Murder converts to the fold. “It’s awesome to see that our fans are growing right along with us, musically speaking, and are accepting the record with open arms,” Strnad agrees.

After a stunning London showcase at the end of 2004, The Black Dahlia Murder snared a substantial following in the UK and the new album is set to stun swathes of new devotees this side of the Atlantic.

To coincide with the release of Miasma, the band has re-launched its website (http://www.theblackdahliamurder.com/) and is currently on tour with the hallowed Ozzfest in America. Their live performances have gone from strength to strength with unparalleled energy and ferocity. Fans are appearing in their droves to soak up the dark and electric atmosphere the band conjures. Strnad is typically succinct in his observation that live, the band gets to “save people from Nu Metal damnation.”

The Black Dahlia Murder will release details of a headline tour in the autumn – watch this space for news of forthcoming UK dates.

MIASMA is released in the UK on August 22nd 2005.
