AS I LAY DYING possess a unique crossover style that reaches out to metal and hardcore audiences alike.
After a fantastic year in 2004, As I Lay Dying are cranking things up about a thousand notches with an amazing new album and a slew of live dates in Europe.
In spite of the success the band has already had, they are determined to keep pushing boundaries and challenging their fans with sharp and brutal new music. Working themselves to the absolute limit, they have delivered a new album that is punishing and inspired; emotionally engaging and adrenalin-charged.
“Shadows Are Security” is described as “the most mature yet powerful and best sounding album” the band has recorded to date. In vocalist Tim Lambesis’ own words: “The combination of aggression and melody in the songs make for so much more than just great parts. We’ve managed to still keep the songs intense and passionate, but they continue to get better with each new one we write.”
The album is produced by Lambesis along with Steve Russell, who also engineered the record. It was mixed by Andy Sneap.
A limited first edition of the CD will be available, which includes a free bonus-DVD documenting an intense live show at the Substage Club in Karlsruhe, Germany. The show was filmed in November last year and has a running time of approximately 25 minutes.
Although As I Lay Dying did not have mainstream success in mind when they recorded “Shadows Are Security”, the new material is so strong and outstanding that label Metal Blade predict a huge crossover success that will win over new fans and send old fans spinning.
And while we’re on the subject of gyrating fans, the band will be paying their European disciples a visit this summer. They are confirmed to play the UK’s Download festival in June, following two festival dates in Germany and live club shows in Switzerland, Italy, Holland and Germany.
As I Lay Dying are a fantastic live band who use their shows to forge deep bonds with their loyal fan base. The new material must be heard live and due to popular demand, the band have pledged to return to Europe for more live dates in the autumn.
The band will release the anxiously awaited “Shadows Are Security” in Europe on June 20th and will be unleashed on Download festival crowds at Donington Park on June 12th.
