About Stephen Anderson Publicity
Stephen Anderson has a sheer and honest passion for music.
Stephen spent the 1980's working with various concert promoters and management companies before going it alone in August 1990, when Stephen Anderson Publicity came to fruition.
The company quickly developed a reputation for providing a first-class PR service to an impressive roster of clients. Such is his dedication to the music he loves Stephen has never accepted ad-hoc commissions. He has actively pursued the artists he admires and respects, confident that he can do them the justice they deserve in the press.
A huge fan of American rock bands across the spectrum, Stephen regularly flies out to New York City - otherwise known as his spiritual home.
In the late 1990's Stephen was heavily involved in Brooklyn's loft-party scene, a scene which was ignited by art-rockers kicking-back against the Manhattan club scene and ultimately took American punk and new wave back to its roots. The movement eventually spurned the likes of The Strokes, but back in the day Stephen walked the trail, and it set it alight, with Oneida. His love of the avant-garde also secured him work with Bailterspace.
Cool punk was a natural progression and whilst roaming the underground scene in NYC, Stephen did the groundwork for future PR projects with the likes of The Movielife, The Starting Line, Good Charlotte, Brand New, Finch and co.uk.
The High Tigers, the quintessential New York Rock 'N'Roll band, were also a natural choice for Stephen to represent.
Alternative rock acts such as Brainiac were high on Stephen's list of targets in the 90's and he also enjoyed success working with The Wrens.
It's no secret that Stephen harbours a dangerous passion for hardcore and metal and didn't hesitate to hunt down prototypical metalcore acts Black Dahlia Murder, As I lay Dying and Unearth. Hardcore act Thursday also line-up on his blistering roster.
And Stephen does not limit his representation to up-coming, young bands. His love of quality metal led him to the likes of Bruce Dickinson and Rob Halford. Although he appreciates the music and commercial success of Iron Maiden and Judas Priest, Stephen was most interested in the solo work of the charismatic front-men and jumped at the chance to work with the luminaries on their singular projects. Other quality metal acts Stephen has worked with include Slow Burn and Apollyon Sun and he has also represented legendary hard rock band Thunder.
Finally, Stephen is proud to have worked with the inimitable Dr John - no explanation is necessary.
Record companies Stephen Anderson Publicity has worked with include Grass Records, Turnbuckle Records and Drive Thru Records
